My name is Sarah Antos, or Ms. A as my students call me. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember.
I graduated from the Criminal Justice Academy at Pinellas Park High School in 2010 with a 4.0 GPA.
Now I am in the Urban Teacher Residency Partnership Program (UTRPP) at the University of South Florida. I am currently in my level 3 internship and graduate in May 2014. I currently intern in a 4th grade classroom and love everything about it.
Last school year, 2012-2013, I interned in a 2nd grade classroom and a 5th grade classroom.
Everyday we start out in our classrooms at 7:30am, usually a little before that, working with out CT's to prepare for the day. At around 7:45 the students are allowed to start walking to their classrooms. The day starts right away and on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday we are there all day from start to finish. On Tuesdays we leave at 9:30 to arrive to our class before its 10am start time. We then attend class until around 12:30 before returning to our school sites. On Fridays we leave at 9:30 as well but have class and a seminar until 2pm. We are not required to return to our schools, but we may choose to do so if their are things we have to get done to make sure the next week starts as it should.
Over the last year I have logged between 400-500 hours in the classroom. Most level 1 and 2 interns log that many between all three of their internships completed while in school. I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity.
I have learned and have grown tremendously over the past year. The things I have seen and done have made me into the educator I am today. I don't think I would be as confident as I am if I had not had all of those hours in the classroom working with the kids.
I am excited to see what this year brings me and completely my road to becoming a teacher. While this journey will never truly end, I hope to be able to look back and have this be the best time of my life. It is already looking like its going to be. I can't wait to look back at the end of this insane journey and smile at all of the friends and memories I have made. Because I know they will stay with me for a life-time.
